How to Spend a Long Weekend in Panama City Beach

written by Clint Johnston
How to Spend a Long Weekend in Panama City Beach

Panama City Beach is located in northwest Florida and is known for its miles of white sand beaches along the Gulf of Mexico. In fact, there are 27 miles of beaches to choose from in Panama City Beach, FL. PCB is known for its delicious food, water adventures, and entertainment for all ages. This is how you can maximize your long weekend in Panama City Beach and make the most of your vacation.

Adventures on the Water

There is no shortage of ways to get on the water in Panama City Beach. Start your weekend off with a Jet Ski Adventure Tour to Shell Island with Lagoon Pontoons. This tour starts in the harbor and is designed for all skill levels. There is a good chance you will spot dolphins in the Gulf of Mexico before stopping for a break at the local hangout Shell Island.

Shell Island Florida

Shell Island is a 7-mile-long barrier island and is only accessible by boat. It is a great place to snorkel and relax for the afternoon or just a break on your tour.

After a day on the water, you can enjoy a night adventure with a Paddle and Glow kayaking tour. Each kayak is equipped with LED lights and brings the bay to life at night. Glow in the dark kayak adventures is a fun way to get on the water and experience Panama City Beach after dark.

Eating Your Way Around Panama City Beach

The Gulf of Mexico provides some amazing dining options in and around Panama City Beach, FL. I sampled as much as I could during my time in the area before continuing east on my road trip in northwest Florida.

Breakfast: Grab a breakfast sandwich and a cold brew at The Pour Coffee & Community in PCB. The Rise and Shine breakfast sandwich is the way to go!

Lunch: You can’t beat lunch at Schooners. It’s the “last locals beach club” and has amazing views right on the beach. I was a big fan of the Loco Shrimp and Grouper Sandwich but it’s hard to go wrong with their amazing menu.

Dinner: Another tasty dining option with amazing views- The Grand Marlin in Panama City Beach. I enjoyed everything I had at the Grand Marlin but the BBQ Oysters were incredible. I wouldn’t normally be drawn to this but it was highly recommended by our amazing server and he delivered. Highly recommend going to the Grand Marlin during your visit to PCB.

Exploring Panama City Beach

The access to beaches, entertainment, and dining options in Panama City Beach, FL is what makes the city great and an ideal home base. Visit for the beaches and stay for the endless tasty meals on the water with views that are hard to beat. A great half-day trip from PCB is over to the Dead Lakes of Wewahitchka. These inland lakes are a stark contrast to the Gulf Coast and an incredible adventure only a short drive away. Make the most of your time in Panama City Beach, FL by exploring all the region has to offer.
