Hotel Review: The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park

written by Clint Johnston
Hotel Review: The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park

I live in Brooklyn, my office is located in SoHo, and I rarely am able to enjoy all of New York’s neighborhoods. Battery Park is located on the southern tip of Manhattan. It is a popular spot for tourists due to the proximity to One World Trade Center and the fantastic views of the Statue of Liberty. One of my goals is to see more of the city I live in and luckily The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park was there to remind me why I love this city.

The eighth annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic takes place every May and Liberty State Park isn’t exactly a quick ride from Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park is located across from Liberty State Park, NJ and only a 15 minute ride from the hotel on a ferry. This was the perfect hotel to call home for the weekend and enjoy the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic.

Arrival at The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park

Battery Park is easy to get to on the train or by taxi. The subway is only a few minute walk and there is a dedicated lane for taxis in front of the hotel if that is your preferred method of transportation. Since I live in Brooklyn I hopped on the subway and arrived 25 minutes later.

I have stayed in Ritz-Carlton properties around the world and they always go above and beyond to make me feel at home.

The Club Level

If you are not familiar with the Club Level at the Ritz-Carlton you should consider it for your next stay. The Club Level lounge offers a retreat for guests as well as complimentary food and beverage. Complimentary WiFi, breakfast, light snacks, hors d’ oeuvres are available throughout the day. I recently experienced the Club Level in Doha, Qatar and it was a wonderful time as well.

The Rooms at Ritz-Carlton Battery Park

Rooms at a Statue of Liberty view are hard to beat. Use your telescope to zoom in on Lady Liberty and from the comfort of your room. A comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom make for a very enjoyable stay at the Ritz.

I recommend booking a room with a Statue of Liberty view to make the most out of your stay in New York.

Spa, Dining, and Fitness

I didn’t have the chance to enjoy the spa or on-site dining during my weekend at the Ritz but they are great to have at the hotel.

The hotel features a premier New York spa for you to relax and unwind in. Check out the full spa menu here.

The fitness center has panoramic views of the harbor and NYC skyline. It is open 24 hours if you feel like getting a midnight workout in.

Overall Impressions

View from the Room

The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park is a perfect New York experience. Harbor views that include the Statue of Liberty can’t be beat. One World Trade Center is just around the corner and the dining options on the water are a great place to enjoy dinner or drinks in the city.

The Ritz-Carlton staff went above and beyond from the moment I checked in. The Club Level access is absolutely worth it and a quiet place to relax on arrival or after a long day.

Check out The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park next time you are planning a trip to the city. Even though I live in Brooklyn, I felt a world away from home.
