Saturday, March 10th is Passport Day in the US. This day is encourage you to get out and get your first passport. Now that you must have a passport to visit our neighbors to the North and South you might as well get a passport if you do not have one already.
The only benefit to this is that you will not need an appointment to apply at participating locations. Walk-ins are welcome just bring proper ID. It would be nice if there was a discount for applying on this particular day but there is not so it is a good reminder to get a passport if you are planning a vacation in the next few months outside the US.
You can expect 4-6 weeks for standard processing and 2-3 for expedited processing (additional $60). If you have been waiting now is the time. For a full list of locations head here.
