Not everyone has the credit American Express demands to receive one of their cards but there is a solution and that is to go get the Delta Debit Card from SunTrust. This requires opening a new bank account but for me I do all my banking online anyway so this does not effect me at all. I have Bank of American and they don’t even exist where I live so this is nothing new. However, if this bothers you then just transfer a few hundred dollars a month to your new bank account to pay bills.
Yearly break down example:
Transfer $500/month to pay bills with SunTrust Delta Debit Card.
This will earn you 6,000 miles a year. Transfer an additional $1,000 to make 3 domestic round trip flights where you will earn double miles. Now you are up to 8,000 miles.
5,000 miles after first purchase.
Yearly total= 13,000 miles. Not bad for a little extra effort.
On many forums there has been some confusion about who can obtain this card since SunTrust lists which states may apply. That does not matter. You can apply and use it for online banking from any state. You may not have a ATMs or a branch near by but you will have a new Delta Debit Card which is a great alternative to the credit cards out there.
One key thing to remember here is that you will earn miles on signature purchases or online purchases. So when the clerk asks debit or credit just say credit and sign for it.
