Traveling is already stressful and time consuming. The last thing we need is a cancelled or delayed flight. Some days of the week have less delays than others. The time of day even plays a factor into delayed flights. If you want the best chance of departing on time be sure to follow these rules from AirHelp.
The Best Day to Fly is Saturday
According to AirHelp flights are delayed 18.11 percent on a Saturday. Compare that to 29.47 percent on Friday.
Monday: 25.69%
Tuesday: 26.60%
Wednesday: 23.59%
Thursday: 21.69%
Friday: 29.47% (worst)
Saturday: 18.11% (best)
Sunday: 24.13%
What Time Should You Fly?
The time of day plays into the delay factor too. Flying in the morning is the best time to fly to avoid delays. Afternoon and evenings are the worst time to fly. And if your flight is delayed in the morning you have a better chance of departing on the same day than with an evening departure.
As you can see in the graphic 6am is the best time to fly and 6pm is the worst time.
AirHelp is also one of my favorite apps. They will get you paid if you are overbooked, bumped, or delayed. The airlines owe you money when this happens and AirHelp will help you get it.
