Delta has announced it will be providing free Wi-Fi to access Amazon on all Wi-Fi equipped planes. Delta has the largest fleet of planes with Wi-Fi so this means there is a very good chance you have Wi-Fi when flying Delta.
From Delta:
Our customers enjoy our free content options in-flight and free access to Amazon provides a convenient way to shop online at 30,000 feet for things they want on the ground.
This isn’t bad for when you don’t feel like paying for Wi-Fi you can at least browse Amazon. This is basically replacing Skymall for inflight shopping with things you will actually want to buy.
To access Amazon while in-flight, open your browser, get on the Delta Connect Wi-Fi portal and click on one of the Amazon banners to begin shopping. Delta Connect also provides free access to real-time travel information, news content from The Wall Street Journal and People magazine, exclusive shopping deals and entertainment options by Delta and its on-board wireless provider Gogo.
Some additional perks are you can download books for your kindle for free inflight (with Prime account). However, streaming movies from your Prime account is very unlikely to work. If you have ever tried using Netflix inflight it is incredibly slow or doesn’t work at at all.
