I love my iPhone but I don’t love it’s battery life. Especially since it’s jailbroken I do not update it as frequently to get those little extra tweaks that increase its battery life. When I travel I am usually pretty careful about keeping it alive throughout the day if I am in a new city or need to rely on it for maps and GPS. Sometimes there are days when your battery just won’t make it.
That is where this portable fuel cell comes in. It says it will charge your smartphone 12 times before running out which is pretty amazing. Just toss it in your backpack and use your phone all you want.
Fuel cell maker Lilliputian Systems today announced that Brookstone will be the first retailer to carry its portable USB power source, which will be sold under Brookstone’s brand. The fuel cell device is about the size of a thick smartphone, and the lighter fluid-filled cartridges are about the same size as a cigarette lighter.
What is great about this device is it will charge any device that has a USB cable. The one possible drawback is this will be sold at Brookstone. They are known for putting high price tags on gadgets like this. You can find plenty of cheap alternatives with a quick google or Amazon search but none will give you 2 weeks of battery life or 12 cycles.
You will have to buy new fuel cells once the old ones are depleted but that is something I can live with. It is also important to note there will be no issues with bringing these fuel cells on planes.
Hopefully, we get word on pricing soon because I plan to get one as soon as it is released.
