Inflight WiFi is what gets me through long flights. I love it but it isn’t cheap. In the past I have mentioned ways to trick Gogo into thinking you are using your mobile device to get a the reduced Gogo rate (for mobile devices) and this is similar. For the months of May and June Blackberry has teamed up with Delta to offer free WiFi on their flights. That is great but I do not have a Blackberry and most people I know do not either. So how do we take advantage of this great offer?
How to Hack Delta WiFi You will need to trick Gogo into thinking your laptop is a blackberry. This is very simply and is the same method I have used in the past to turn my laptop into an iPhone (in Gogo’s eyes). 1) Download User Agent Switcher add-on Firefox or Chrome 2) Go to Tools–> Default User Agent 3) Select “New User Agent” 4) Create Blackberry user agent by entering the string below in the user agent field:
Mozilla/5.0 (BB10; <Device Model>) AppleWebKit/<WebKit Version> (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/<BB Version #> Mobile Safari/<WebKit Version>
5) Name the new user agent anything you want. I named it “Blackberry.” 6) Switch your browser to your new user agent you just created. Do this by going back to Tools–>Default User Agent–>Blackberry(or whatever you named it). By going to Whatismybrowser.com you can see what you just tricked Gogo inflight WiFi into thinking you are on. You are on your laptop but as you can see my browser now says I am running a Blackberry. And that’s it. You can use this same method to trick Gogo you are running anything. I have used this in the past to get a discount on WiFi for a mobile device but now you can use it for free on all Delta flights with WiFi through the end of June.
