Alright, everyone who uses these looks ridiculous right? Well yes, but they can be a life saver on a plane. I have tried countless travel pillows from the free ones credit card companies hand out to the $30 neck pillows filled with beans. The point is most of these are terrible and provide very little support. Usually I end up using it to cushion my head against the window (if in the window seat). It rarely servers it’s true purpose which is to keep my head up comfortably while I sleep.
For short flights I can leave my travel pillow at home but for overnight flights to Europe or Asia or even an early flight it can mean the difference between being rested and being tired on arrival. At this point I really don’t care how ridiculous it looks which is why I love the Evolution Pillow.
This is the first pillow that is actually stiff enough to prop my head up and keep it stable. I was reluctant to buy this because of the $35 price tag but it has proved itself worthy. You may notice that little pocket for the mp3 player/phone. This is pretty worthless but its a good spot for earplugs or maybe a sleeping mask. Anything small you like to keep with you on the plane but not really great for an iPod.
Pros:
- Memory foam keeps head up
- Very soft
- Can still wear noise cancelling headphones
- Easy to just throw in your carry-on after you land
Cons:
- Price (In my opinion worth it)
- Size
- Not practical for backpackers
Overall:
It is slightly larger and less compact than other kinds but the comfort out weighs that completely. It will fit in your carry on duffel, backpack, and even comes with its own bag. The memory foam makes a big difference and I will sacrifice a little space for a lot of comfort.
