5 Steps to Plan a Perfect Trip to Orlando

written by Clint Johnston
5 Steps to Plan a Perfect Trip to Orlando

1. Consider Flexible Travel Dates

Before booking a flight to Orlando, consider your travel dates. Are they during prime travel dates for the destination? Long weekends, school breaks, and major holidays draw major crowds to Orlando, an area which attracts more visitors than any other U.S. city, which means flights will be more expensive. Consider flying during the week and be as flexible as possible when planning your vacation. This will save you money and help you avoid crowds at the popular attractions in the city.

2. Avoid the Lines at the Parks

There is no true off-season in Orlando but there are periods with fewer visitors than others. Waiting until kids return to school in August will certainly shorten the lines at the major theme parks. This may be difficult when traveling with family but the payoff is desirable — you won’t need to spend money on a fast pass at Disney to skip the lines.

3. Take Advantage of Discounts

Disney wants to keep those trams running at maximum capacity year-round. This means there are great deals available when traveling during the fall or off-peak dates. Look for packages or offers from Disney and other theme parks if you are traveling during these times. Also, be sure to request a free Orlando Magicard. It is a collection of deals and offers that you can use to save on everything from dinner theaters to airboat rides. It even offers discounts at major hotels and restaurants in the Orlando area.

4. Enjoy all that Orlando Has to Offer

Once you tire from the theme parks, venture outside the city to explore the rest of Central Florida. There is more to the area than Disney and Universal Studios. Enjoy a day trip to the Kennedy Space Center, Gatorland, or even one of many nearby beaches or national parks. A car rental will be necessary but it will be worth the trip.

5. Where to Stay in Orlando

Each park offers plenty of options for anyone who wants to stay close to the action, but there are plenty of other options in the city to accommodate you. Many hotels offers shuttles to and from the parks, which makes a car rental unnecessary. There are also many vacation rental properties in Orlando that are often more spacious and cheaper than a hotel room. Renting a vacation rental is easy if you have never done if before and it might just save you money on your trip.

Planning Your Trip to Orlando

The most important factor to saving money is being a flexible traveler whenever possible when it comes to travel dates, travel times, and even alternate airports. If you’re willing to shop around, you can significantly cut travel expenses. Be on the lookout for deals from the major theme parks in Orlando. They offer new deals year-round and you might find just what you are looking for. Start your research early and pay close attention to flights as they increase or decrease fares. Planning a trip to Orlando doesn’t need to be difficult when you know where to start.
