The Commonwealth of Virginia is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Appalachian mountains to the west. As one of the original thirteen colonies it is a great destination for history buffs. It is also offers photographers countless scenic landscapes to frame during their trip to the state. Jamestown and Williamsburg may draw a lot of attention for their connection to U.S. history but Virginia has a lot to offer. Let’s take a look at 5 Virginia towns to consider on your next trip.

Newport News

Newport News, VA is packed with museums and parks to explore. The Mariners’ Museum & Park offers the best of both with indoor and outdoor areas to enjoy. Eat at The Crabshack Seafood Restaurant: On the James River and grab a room for the weekend at one of the great hotels in Newport News.

Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach is a coastal city in southeastern part of the state and offers the idea spot for a beach vacation. Hiking, kayaking, golfing, and whale watching are just a few of the outdoor activities you can enjoy during your stay.
